I think this is one of several possible explanations that motivated Toshiba's decision that I believe is far-reaching, but rather than trying to analyze why, it is probably better to try to comprehend its ramifications. I agree with Zeev that it will take a few hours for many investors to appreciate the significance of the news. This belief is supported by the fact that for much of the trading after 9:30 the stock hung in the low to mid 70s, and just recently spiked back up near high of 85.
