Bill, just goes to show how balance is good. I mostly remember Japan giving away product (fiberoptic modules from Sumitomo) in the late 1980's and early 1990's and we took their parts apart and could not see a way they could make money at any level. I even had one team member go to Japan in '88 to try to figure it all out. Sumitomo and other banks were underwriting much of it...Trying to buy market share. Bill and Dave would have your @$terick out the door if you gave product away (notice even Today Carly did not give away the product to get eBay's biz as did SunW....) Anyway, in Japan Sumitomo and the other banks that were behind everything paid the price in the next decade.

always watch the bottom line AND make the customer happy.
