<<On Thursday, the U.S. government said it was releasing 500,000 barrels of crude to Citgo Petroleum Corp.'s 310,000 barrel-per-day (bpd) Lake Charles refinery
from its Strategic Petroleum Reserve to alleviate crude supply problems at the Citgo refinery.>>

Has anyone seen anything about this SPR release yesterday? This was the first I have heard of it - seems to have been done on very quietly.

So we are now releasing SPR oil for purely political reasons - let's hope we don't have a really cold winter or the Iraqi's shut down supply or something important that we might REALLY need that oil for.

that's what it looks like...perversely, pulp and paper prices have been rising quite a bit from what one hears. to the extent that toilet paper boosted cpi last time around.

and we all know how difficult it is for a price rise to actually show up in CPI.
