I just think that people leave their logic at the door re this whole business. And there are no government people involved. Ex-government is not the same thing. When people sign on as directors, etc., their role is to work in the interests of the company, and in this case gold. I don't know if you remember all of the efforts by Munk and others to lobby central bankers? Maybe this all paid off to some extent with the Washington Agreement. They were not lobbying the banks to keep the price down!! I don't know what became of the idea of the Millenium Gold Coin - again this effort was not aimed at keeping gold down - just the opposite.

But on these threads everything tends to become Alice Through The Looking Glass. And the end result of this sort of thinking is expressed by those who believe (and it takes a warped mind at that) that gold mining companies want the price of their product to fall!
