Steve- Interesting possible connection you made about CDMA, China, and Alcatel. The whole standards battle is quite complicated and confusing. We've discussed it quite extensively on the last mile not to long ago.

If my memory serves me correct, ALA did some recent announcements about a push into Asia. As a general statement, Serge is heavily betting on GSM. Check out the details of the Fujitsu JV. It's a substantial partnership to work on technology to evolve GSM to broadband. It's at the bottom of my post at:

The biggest GSM player in the North America is Nortel. And FWIW, Ericsson, I believe, is the key supplier of GSM equipment to China Telecom. -MikeM(From Florida)
