The Forever Friend

Sometimes in life,
You find a special friend;
Someone who changes your life
Just by being part of it.

Someone who makes you laugh
Until you can't stop;
Someone who makes you believe
that there really is good in the world.

Someone who convinces you
That there really is an unlocked door
Just waiting for you to open it.
This is Forever Friendship.

When you're down,
And the world seems dark and empty,
Your forever friend lifts you up in spirit
And makes that dark and empty world
Suddenly seem bright and full.

Your forever friend gets you through
The hard times, the sad times,
And the confused times.
If you turn and walk away,
Your forever friend follows.

If you lose your way,
Your forever friend guides you
And cheers you on.

Your forever friend holds your hand
And tells you that
Everything is going to be okay.
And if you find such a friend,
You feel happy and complete,
Because you need not worry.
You have a forever friend for life,
And forever has no end.

"A part of you has grown in me,
Together forever we shall be,
Never apart...
Maybe in distance,
Maybe in time and space,
But never in the heart."

We love you, Edwarda!

George, I think your criticism is misplaced. There have been many phone calls and donations behind the scenes. It is a wonderful thing to observe--Not just as a tribute to Edwarda's touching of lives, which was extensive and beautiful, but to the generosity of the people here. Most are NOT writing about it- they are just doing it.

I think E. was saying that she doesn't have the heart to go looking for a long ago post at this time, when the immediacy of what is happening is so consuming. She is taking a lot of time with this, as is Coby.

I am hearing the voices of people I have only known in black and white print. I'm watching the power of the internet being used in a caring and wonderful way. Some of us are detail people, and they are often the ones who get done what the rest of us are sighing about.

Of all people, Edwarda would understand all this. I am so glad you got to meet her. I hope I will get to.

She is a remarkably attractive Lauren Bacall lady.....

Just this last Sunday night, my wife and I were watching AMC, and in a promo there was Lauren Bacall in a scene from Casablanca, and I turned and said to her: "Lauren Bacall was the "fox" of the early 1940's." Looking back now, I wish I had know about Edwarda's situation sooner.
