re: triple witching 'manipulation'

I'm not sure there's anything sinister going on-- with a large number of derivative-based instruments expiring today, and (i'm guessing) most bets placed on the upside, you'd expect downward pressure today.

e.g. I sell 100 calls, so the options MM sells his 10,000 underlying hedge (assuming no normal 'buyer' exists)

Sure this is 'manipulation', but it's the natural sort, reflecting the connection between the derivatives market and the market in the underlying. IMHO.

Today was another buying opportunity. I picked up a bunch more AMD at $81 7/16 (just 15 min before the close). I expect to sell them back in one month for a nice profit.

Pravin.
PS: I bought QCOM yesterday morning at $60 15/16 and sold this morning for $67 1/8 (right at the early morning peak). Bragging? You betcha!

re, triple witching~

I have used options expry. days to my advantage, by putting a low limit order in the night before. I've had some success doing this, particularly with AMD.

Best of luck,
