Back in January before the X.com merger when there was "only" 100,000-200,000 eBay auctions using Paypal
eBay had a golden opportunity to "snipe" X.com to the punch and buy out cofinity (Paypal)...
I even suggested it a few days before the Paypal/X.com merger was announced.....

It would have made ALOT of sense to buy these guys out back then.....

Now there are more than 1.5 Million eBay auctions that use Paypal......

Maybe eBay/Billpoint will get lucky with the electronic check system they are developing (i.e if Paypal doesn't pursue electronic checks)...
It will be great for those that want to debit money from their checking but don't have debit cards and/or don't want to use Credit Cards

Makes more sense than the Half.com merger....

the news keep referring to Half.com as FIXED venue..it ain't... it's a reverse auction where the sellers compete with each other and drive DOWN the price...and if they "integrate" 1/2.com into eBay...the Sellers (people like me)are going to raise hell.
