I have found it useful to look at the gold open interest as well as the COT. Major peaks in the POG and the XAU usually occur after a big rise in the open interest.

We have not seen that during this rally. Quite the contrary. Open interest is extremely low.

This suggests that POG has made just a minor peak -- not a major one. I still look for POG to smash the $300 barrier this summer after pulling back into the low $280s the next week or two.
