George, i actually tend to think as well that in the longer term a resumption of the secular deflationary trend is likely. however, during outright deflation periods, gold and gold stocks tend to perform well, in spite of this being counter-intuitive.

what's more, i don't believe the cyclical inflation upturn is done yet - i expect it to accelerate before it gets better.

here's a long term e-wave look on gold that is rather bullish (note "c" may not have terminated yet):

<For many the idea that inflation will never again be a major long term problem borders on religious faith.>

Ultimately, everything boils down to religious faith. The Humanist believes he can accomplish just about anything through his or her human faculties. The Rationalist believes he can know everything, including the unknowable, as a limit of reason, which is preserved and surpassed.

The whole foundation of success is based on believing you can be successful.

The US stock market is operating on religious faith. Faith is trust in another and/or oneself. Most investors/traders have faith that Greenspan will do the right thing by their investment positions and bring about a "soft landing." Is this world " the best of all possible worlds?" (Leibnitz)

Woe to investors if their religious faith in Greenspan and the System is shattered.

Could a part of the manipulation be people are not even informed as to the POG? One said she had to get her guy to buy her something - quick!
