Oil Prices and a Recession

Higher oil prices + higher interest rates portend recession ahead with ominous stock market implications.

I think it is fashionable to assume higher oil prices and higher interest rates portend a recession. At this point in time the strong US economy can withstand both higher oil prices and higher interest rates and as of right now the higher interest rate scenario may hold less weight as higher oil prices are doing some of the work of the Fed.

I'm sure glad to have acted on Brinker's sell signal last January.

Why are you so glad? The equity market has virtually done nothing but stand still when you do the analysis. So far all you have done is incurred a tax liability in personal accounts and we still have a 1/2 year to go.

Right now I am not glad or anything for that matter...I would say the call has not been a good or bad one to date.
