Actually, I think the regional banks will be acquired later this year in advance of the change in how acquisitions must be reported against earnings. It may not happen until later this summer, but there should be some good buys once the Fed stops hiking rates and the markets acknowledge that fact. Right now, no one is quite sure so that continues to put pressure on the banking index as each rate hike puts more pressure on bad loan portfolios. But it certainly won't be a smooth ride.
