Neeny----- I thought I would share a few small things with Edwarda's friends. She was from Forest Hills, which is a tony section of Queens on the edge of the city, but her family was of modest means. She was bright enough to get scholarships, though, and went to a Catholic prep school on the East Side of Manhattan, then to a nearby college that was full of debutantes. While she was working at a department store for extra money, many of them would go to Switzerland to ski, or Newport to sail. She majored in Medieval history. When she went to grad school, she took an MBA, but she put her earlier training to good use. Her thesis was on economic issues in certain medieval cities. Her husband started grad school in philosophy, then switched to psychology, so she got an earful of those subjects. By and by, they divorced. She has, however, maintained an active social life, dating and maintaining friendships throughout the city. Unfortunately, given her nurturing instincts, she has never borne a child. She used to say that having decided to "treat herself to SI" was one of the best decisions that she had made, and that she was glad of all the friendships she had made, especially when she could meet various people in "3-D". I am sure that she will be gratified at the concern and affection demonstrated on this thread.........
