Shutdown ...

Try this

Start / Run and type into the box

C:\Windows\RunDll32.EXE user.exe,exitwindows

See if this gets your system to shut down.

Please post the results.

Cheers, PW.

Sahara,

In addition to the other suggestions, there is this:

Start/Help/Troubleshooting/WIN98 Troubleshooting/Startup and Shutdown/Put a dot in the box beside My computer stops responding when I try to shut down Windows 98/click Next.

I am assuming you are running WIN98.

There is a whole pile of things for you to try.

I personally simply hold down the power button until the machine cuts off and and put up with having to run scandisk when I reboot.

Have fun,
Phil
