Jim,

Micron, Via and AMD hoped to use DDR along with Athlon processors to wrest control of the pC market from Intel. Little did they know that their chief arms supplier is this war against Intel was RAMBUS which holds the patents on DDR.

Rambus may or may not have patents which are applicable to some features of DDR memory. To suggest that "RAMBUS holds the patents on DDR" is a rather huge and imaginative stretch.

If anything, this agreement strengthens the position of DDR. Rambus doesn't have to push their expensive memory solution anymore.

HOLY SH@T!!!! Seven figures!!! That's more than Bilow makes all year.<G> Good for you. And here I thought Scumbria was the only one that made money with his 500% and his knowing the royalties were comming (what timing). I appreciate your posts. Maybe someday we'll meet and have a beer. Good Luck!

PS. Uhhh.. Scumbria, sorry for the SH@T! Didn't mean to be obscene, but I think you can handle it.

Jim,

My profits were in the 7 figures.

I'm starting to understand your lack of interest in opposing technical viewpoints. ;^)

DDR is dead as a PC desktop competitor.

I agree with you that DDR is dead, (before it ever took birth actually). But, I find it hard to believe that AMD has ever had any serious plans to use for more than a token gesture to micron. Who is begging them, and probably offered free DDR drams if they use it.
