Michael - seems like thiis reporter did not do his homework - My understanding is that Jackson did not in fact find any evidence of overcharging and certainly did not attach a specific dollar amount. And according to other reporting on this lawsuit consolidation, it was actually in response to the fact that the basis of the original suits was eliminated by the final ruling. But then I'm not a lawyer, I just know what I read in the papers <GG>.

Which is why the DOJ case will never be settled now. Microsofts best chance of discouraging the avalanche of civil suits is nullifying Judge Jackson's findings at the Appeals Court and/or Supreme Court. At this point, they have nothing more to lose and everything to gain by pursuing their appeal to the conclusion.
