Rocky,

The whole idea of portable electronics is that they are easily transported/concealed and sip electrons.

steves-digicams.com

This camera may be a good hybrid between a digital camera and a short-clip video camera. I think that there are trade-offs in both applications. My understanding is that many of the newer (ultra-small) palm-style digital camcorders use linear tape with capacities of over 10 gigabytes. All of a sudden 156MB doesn't sound like too much to work with.

A digital camera loaded with features, a CD-R disk drive and a 10X optical zoom will be the size of a shoe box and weigh you down like a brick.

They should just call it the "Sony Albatross".

When was the last time you bought an SLR with a 28-280mm lens?
What use does that have?
You can take pictures of your kids soccer games from the adjacent county?
Does it come with a built-in tripod as well?
At its maximal length I would have my doubts that
even an anti-shake mechanism will be useful.

I will take a Canon digital ELPH with 2.1 megapixel resolution and a 3X optical zoom over the camera Sony is currently releasing anyday.

The camera you describe is a niche player at best.

The stupid thing about the Mavica is the 1600x1200 max resolution...not even 3 megapixels...why?
