LOR selling below book value now. T selling for only 25% bucks above book value. When stocks of companies with huge strategically dominant futures fall that low they start attracting suitors. Rumors on LOR, T, UIS and even QCOM are starting. NOVL, BLS, CS and IFMX are others which could be taken out. I don't expect a T or QCOM takeover but DT is raising 50 billion this month for acquisitions. It's rumored they already have a letter of intent to buy UIS once they get this money. They are also rumored to be considering a move on T. And that's just one company. The trend is bigger. With GTE and BEL together that is only going to add to consolidation fever. Should also be more buy-outs in the .com area though I'm staying away from that sector unless AOL falls below 50 again then maybe. MSFT is a company which might start making strategic acquisitions. There will be more consolidation in media too after the AOL-Time-Warner deal. All speculation here of course. All rumors are only that until proven.

although I wouldnt short T at this point, I still think it falls into the mid to lower 20s before any meaningful rally takes place.. It could jump a bit here, but the trend is down and on the big boy NYSE stocks that momentum is usually hard to break.. You mentioned that a big company like T dosnt die in a few months.. T has been dying for years tho.. Just some thoughts.. Not to be a thorn- but I too keep waiting to get a position in T, and this is what im thinking..
