Captain Jack - for all the reasons you have been discussing. CPQ already has too much headcount. The services business is still not growing fast enough even with current cost structure. The "service contracts" are with DELL and other non-CPQ customers - how long would those customers maintain their contracts if CPQ bought them out? So CPQ would just have picked up a big cost structure with no viable business model. GE, on the other hand, is perceived as "Neutral" - although even they did not want to buy the inacom service business, but just want to pick the bones - for free.
