Actually, Gene, I was responding to the <<Can there be different criteria for these companies?>>

During the cc, management did not deny that negotiations have been, are, or would be occuring with chipset and or controller manufacturers. That the terms of these potential agreements differ from other component manufacturers (on the basis of it being a memory manufacturer instead of a controller mfrer, or it being a hositle vs. a friendly party), is immaterial. Patent validity remains. That was my point. Sorry if I did not express myself with my usual alacrity <ggg>.

The fundamental issue being alleged is that Rambus transferred technology to Hitachi and other memory mfrers for the sole purpose of enabling these companies to manufacture and sell memories and logic products that are compatible with its Rambus DRAM specification. Some of these Companies then applied the know how to create PC100, 133 and DDR. Sorry for butting in and for perseverating, but I'm not sure everybody on this and other RMBS threads really understands this allegation (including myself).
