This caught my eye (from the ephedra link I posted):

"Patients presenting with ephedrine overdose usually have a history of recent ingestion of diet pills, recreational herbal preparations or decongestants."

Seems consistent with her recent history. It appears ephedra toxicity runs its course fairly quickly (7 hours or so) but I wonder if there might be contraindications with other meds or herbs she was taking that may exacerbate and/or extend it.

Well, since people USE it as a stimulant, I don't think it's fair to characterize that as a "problem". I can't take antihistamines with pseudoephidrine, which nearly all have. After a few pills I begin to feel a mad desire to clean the Whole House, which with me is a clear sign of amphetamine overdose.

Mix that with Percodan, and I wonder what happens. Perc in sufficient quantities can be a really wild upper.
