We, sadly, have lost another Japanese leader. This particular statesman was recently named by a panel of historians as having, "The Most Embarrassing Surname of Any Postwar Japanese Leader When Transliterated into English":

Former Japan PM Takeshita Dies

TOKYO (AP) - Former Prime Minister Noboru Takeshita, who reigned as one of Japan's top kingmakers long after he was driven from office by scandal in 1989, died Monday after an extended illness. Takeshita, 76, died of respiratory failure at a Tokyo hospital early Monday, said Shigeo Yoshimura of the Takeshita family's sake brewery in western Japan. Takeshita served as premier from 1987 to 1989.
