Paul the no fan with 1 GHz Coppermine, Re <<At the same time, I expect Intel to offer >1 GHz Coppermines that will use 133 MHz SDRAM/i815E to compete in the high end consumer segment>>

LOL !!!!!!!!

One step at a time Pauly! First they need to introduce the >800 MHz in the consumer market! With this pace they should be at >1 GHz in a few years.

Paul - RE: "At the same time, I expect Intel to offer >1 GHz Coppermines that will use 133 MHz SDRAM/i815E to compete in the high end consumer segment - up against the AthWipers."

How fast do you expect Intel to get the new Cumine stepping, C-0? 1.2GHz?

"Willamette will be tied to RAMBUS - initially."

That's good for AMD... Maybe Willy won't use DDR SDRAM until it moves to socket 479 (from 423)?

"However, the Willamette CPU performance will put it in a market segment that is FOCUSED ALMOST TOTALLY ON PERFORMANCE AND NOT COST."

That means AMD may still be able to beat the price/performance drum since Athlons will use 133MHz SDRAM or DDR SDRAM.

How does the 815 graphics compare with, say, a TNT2? Will high-end consumers accept it do you think, or are you expecting the onboard graphics to be disabled in these systems?

Paul

However, the Willamette CPU performance will put it in a market segment that is FOCUSED ALMOST TOTALLY ON PERFORMANCE AND NOT COST.

WHEN?
