Gordon,
I thought the same as you but, the officials of the city of Houston said that, since they were not hand guns, and were not fully automatic, that no law had been broken. Of course, the present mayor, and administration, of the city, could quite possibly, be biased. This same sort of thing is beginning to happen all over America. What is good for one group of people, is not OK for the other. Such attitudes could, conceivably, make, other wise unbigoted, people, think twice.

Gordon,
I misread your last sentence in the previous post. If you saw a clip of the incident, these people were uniformed, and carrying the rifles at "port arms" which is known to be a "ready" position, and I considered what I saw to be threatening. If the rifles had been at right, or left, shoulder arms, then it would be different. That is the main point of my objection.

I don't believe therefore that it is illegal to just carry in public.
I'm no lawyer, but I believe a side-effect of the Texas concealed handgun law makes it illegal to carry a handgun unless you have a license.

There are exceptions, one is to carry a gun that is either dismantled or locked in a case while on the way to or from a shooting range, another is to carry a handgun while traveling, which is defined as crossing 3 county lines in one day.

Display of a firearm violations can include such display on your own property if you are in view of a public area.
