"Do you know how far and wide I'd need to travel to find another school district installing 50 new W2K PCs in an elementary school?"

Not far. Once you get out of Idaho. ;-)

In our school, all class rooms now have at least one PC.
The computer Lab is all PC's now. Teachers all have a Pentium laptops running Win2k as of this year.
All servers in our school district are moving over to Pentium/Win2k servers.
Perhaps we are not typical, but you said:

"You can't GIVE PCs away these days to schools. They don't want 'em. Too much work."
"The trend is DEFFINITELY going in the direction of thin clients."

A quick look around at Dept of Education sites for a few states shows, your claim to simply be untrue.

Show me the states who have mandated thin clients for their K-12 schools. Support your argument or concede it's not true.

My District & State is not alone in using non $UN solutions.

Hope your browser doesn't choke on these:

In Ohio (one of the states suing MSFT) they don't recommend Sun Workstations:

Your own Idaho says PC or MAC. None of that $UN stuff.

Iowa (suing MSFT) is using 26.6% PC and 56.5% Mac's ($UN not mentioned). Aren't they claiming monopoly? (The numbers are for 1997-1998)

I could go on, but you would likely refuse to accept it anyway. Really, you should get out more you seem to have a pretty limited view.
