MeD -- it is very difficult to forcast the year already. DELL either knows something or has more balls than brains. The spokesperson that stated the qtr is on track is what we need to hear. A few additional positives as to why they feel that way would be great,,, but this was more than we are used to. Too bad MC did not say it. That would have added a bit of punch to the statement but,, happy we saw this!
The street may not REACT but they will remember. It would give MC and cpq credability when they start acting on positive statements. He also needs to have a focus on WS. If he continues to ignore them they will snub him in return,, now and later. WS wants to know of his progress so they do not make the mistakes they made in the past when cpq lied to them. He should be giving WS a snippet now and then on any progress he is making. It would be better to see cpq slowly crawl to 33 then do a run instead of getting great news popping to 33 only to fall back. There really are lines at the exits that need cleared slowly. cpq does not need a rush from those holding higher along with those grabbing quick profits and looking to come back much lower--- again. A large part of cpqs failure to get over 30 - 32 is simply because cpq is not open with investors or WS,, esp institutions. MC could have danced with them instead of the continual snubbing. He is known as well for being the msft protector as he is cpq ceo right now,,, do you remember Gates coming to the aid of cpq when they needed it a lot more than msft does? He has his priorities,, great! BUT he is missing one!
