Ken, I think you should re-read my post. I haven't argued the investment in ALSC based on their bleeding edge technology. If anything, I would agree that they have tended toward slow development and deployment. However, I think they have been very shrewd in their investment program and overall management, particularly in finding ways of developing in a business that has historically shifted between feast and famine. I think their investments in UMC, Chartered Semi, et al will pay off well. Additionally, the venture program is a collection of small gems. My expectation is that much of Alliance's future development will grow from these programs via acquisitions and perhaps co-development programs. IMO, if you place too much emphasis on their history of chip development, you miss too much of the big picture.

we have dan niles at lehman brothers coming out raising estimate for intel going for the for fiscal 2000 by 3 cents and fiscal 2001 by 10 cents a share. Saying that manufacturing and ramping up the what he said, starting to hum, he said been a lot of pick up in corporate demand in june. And he said that intel looking booked for the quarter at this point and that should help drive up average selling price of chips. Right now niles saying best way to play pick up in pc demand through intel or micron. tveyes.com
