Mark,

<There are too many variables, especially since this is still an emerging technology. Maybe something better than CDMA comes along. Maybe other companies find a way to engineer around Qualcomm's patents. Maybe Qualcomm is forced to negotiate much lower royalties for their patent portfolio. Maybe the other businesses Qualcomm engages in come up losers and erode away any value they derive from their CDMA business.>

How long have you invested in Q? To say that something better than CDMA will come along (at least in the next few years) and displace CDMA indicates you don't have a strong grasp about the strength of Q's position. The very thing that keeps GSM networks humming along currently, is the same exact thing that will keep CDMA networks up and running around a long, long time. I'm not going to go into a long explanation about this, but I suggest you purchase a book from Geoffrey Moore called the "Gorilla Game." It's going to help hone your thinking.

Also, engineer around Q's patents? That's sorta like saying someone is going to engineer around the wheels of an automobile.

With all due respect Mark, you gotta do a bit more research. Granted, understanding Q thoroughly is a hard job...probably one of the hardest stocks to really get a grip on, but if you're gonna take any kind of sizeable position in it, it's gonna help you sleep better at night.
