Re: Your buddy and fellow AMDroid...

Ah Paulie, you're not thinking too well tonight. AMD is proving their copper / SOI process starting a few months ago and continuing through the year. When they move to 12" wafers at the end of next year, they will have had plenty of experience with copper and SOI.

Copper is here now, when asked about SOI in a recent conference call, one of the AMD principles (I don't recall which, and it's too late at night for me to go link hunting right now) said that AMD was in a continuous evaluation of low capacitance SOI materials and moving gradually to lower capacitance materials (rather than trying to make a sudden jump).

Step by step, copper then SOI then 12" wafers, AMD is marching ahead. Intel will be trying to do all three at once. And the Austin product is already beating PIII and Celeron with neither copper nor SOI nor 12" wafers!

Dan

Tejek - Re: "I know that you think you orate and the rest of us yack; however, all I remember of SOI is asking Scumbria some questions re the SOI process..."

Your buddy and fellow AMDroid AlibiDan claims that AMD already has a PROVEN SOI/COPPER PROCESS !!!

Paul,

You do know that Dan3 and I are not the same person; his thoughts are not necessarily my thoughts although I am sure we share similiar thoughts on some things. If relating the SOI and Cu processes together disturbs you, take it up with Dan.

What exactly did you do with your time off?
