I guess that is for the market to decide. I'm sure the airbag has "little details....necessary and invisible part of the design to the end user"

I'm sure most car buyers don't know or care how much of a royalty goes to the air bag patent holders. I guess it's lucky for DRAM manufacturers doesn't "mandate" usage of RMBS.<gg> They can make their chips without them as long as the patent register isn't violated. Use patented IP in your product, you pay a fee, or suffer the legal consequences. Apparently Toshiba has decided just that.
