The RDRAM on-chip controller vs a off-chip DDR SDRAM controller should give the advantage to RDRAM. I'm sure Intel knows the latency differences and has a idea of how hard it might be to put a DDR SDRAM controller on-chip.

But an on-chip DDR controller would perform better than an on-chip DRDRAM controller. The pin count issues are more problematic with DDR, but the clock speed issues are much worse with DRDRAM.

It is not clear which way this will go.

Analysts Raise Rambus Price Targets

Mark Edelstone of MSDW raises target from $125 to $200. Calls Toshiba deal, "Deal of the century". Mark doubles 2003 earnings estimate to $4-$6 per share.
