Vince, I wasn't looking for proof of your beliefs or non-beliefs. I was just trying to understand what other reason a person could possibly have for making such an issue of evolution.

It's my nature that it really bothers me when other people are talking about things I can't understand, so when I don't understand, I ask until I either get an answer or run out of steam. This question really interests me, so I haven't run out of steam yet.

"The preponderance of the evidence uncovered thus far leads us to believe that man and all living organisms on earth evolved over millions of years ....." I don't think it is too much to ask.

When I was a kid learning about evolution, every book or teacher I encountered always preceded "evolution" with "the theory of." This was done to such an extent that I recall thinking that the subject was thetheoryofevolution rather than just evolution. I'm pretty sure that if you look in textbooks and encyclopedias you'll still find evolution preceded by the word, theory. And theory means what you said about preponderance of evidence. I don't understand why that's not enough for you.
