PM, the APC beeping [every 5 seconds due to power outage]
can be disabled by a DIP switch - at least on my 'Back UPS
280'. But it's in the back and easy to forget about. The 'low battery' beep will still sound, though.
There are 4 DIP switches and I did adjust #2 and #3 so that the battery takes over at a LOWER line voltage than the factory setting. That way the beeping due to more frequent slight power voltage dips stops [and my PC still works OK].

Yes, it's a sign of paranoia and paranoia is good. :)
