Russian Norilsk says '99 PGM output up 1.8 pct
MOSCOW, June 21 (Reuters) - Russian metals giant Norilsk Nickel raised output of platinum group metals, including platinum, palladium, rhodium and ruthenium, by 1.8 percent in 1999 from the 1998 figure, Norilsk said on Wednesday.

In line with its normal practice Norilsk gave no data on absolute production levels, which are a state secret in Russia.

Norilsk said in a statement it had also boosted nickel output by 1.1 percent, copper by 4.5 percent and cobalt by 7.6 percent.

Norilsk is the world's largest producer of nickel and palladium and second largest producer of platinum.
