Bill Kreutzmann Story Proves to Be Hoax Despite widespread rumors, Grateful Dead drummer Bill Kreutzmann is alive and well. A fake Associated Press story circulated on the Internet today claiming that Kreutzmann had died in a plane crash off the coast of Honolulu, Hawaii yesterday. However, the Honolulu State Sheriff's Department told Jambands.com that no such accident occurred. In addition, an employee at GDTSTOO, the Grateful Dead's ticket office, reported that Kreutzmann spoke to members of the Grateful Dead organization earlier this afternoon.
