Edwarda might have flickered out in 3-D life and went peacefully into the night. But wow did she become the star of SI. PMs, e-mails, messages posted. A fireworks of bandwidth burned and tons of emotions and ideas. Seems fitting for some one who never sat in the back seat of life.

I am gratified that you accepted the apology.

I was aware of the nature of my note. And I rued it.

The Edwarda lesson says that I should have realized you meant your words in the utmost of kindliness.

I had that lapse, that overlooked this lesson.

It seems beyond hope that we can teach ourselves wonderfulness overnight - if at all.

Doesn't it?

There are no words except it seems so unfair...I knew "Edwarda" through the alum assoc of Finch college which we both attended I much earlier...She was a dear friend to all of us...always there in a crisis, always offering to help and to listen...I cannot believe this though Margaret Maxwell her professor and mine many years ago visited over the weekend and were in touch with her cousin Maureen...we were told that the dialysis was the key and that if that worked she would pull through...i cannot believe it...She was at a Finch parth just about five weeks ago looking just fine...agreed may she rest in peace and may she not have suffered...sincerely and thank you so much for keeping everyone informed..."Edwarda" was special and she created a network of special friends...If only she realized...Xxxx Xxxxxxxxx

Kerry/All:

My wife Xxxxx and I were very shocked to hear the news about "Edwarda" today. She was very kind to us when we knew her from our Brooklyn days, and we shared some real building maintenance "adventures" living together in that old building on Grace Court.

While we're no longer living in the Heights, an email note from "Edwarda"'s humor list always brought back fond memories of how helpful and kind "Edwarda" was. Recently I'd be sitting at my computer on a Saturday afternoon, and would see those messages coming in from "Edwarda", and would think of her searching the Internet up there on Grace Court, looking for the funny stuff. Somehow it seems appropriate to share our thoughts about her on her list.

"Edwarda", we will never forget you!

Xxxx and Xxxxx Xxxxxx
