See what I mean? A discussion with you is useless because you always fall back on wishful thinking.

What a shame to waste all that verbiage when it always end up with a crystal ball and a child-like wish.

My crystal ball says that when the smoke clears, GSM will be ripped out by a lot of carriers who will replace it with CDMA2000 3G, despite any commitments to a GSM/GPRS/EDGE/WCDMA path. The niche won't be a niche any longer.

If the maximum advantage is not being pressed by the holders of these essential patents, it's probably a bluff.

carranza2, I certainly can't tell you who of the 27 other essential patent holders for WCDMA is bluffing. But, I can tell you it is not IDCC.

They have been actively working with the standards body and when they state that their contributions "have become part of the 3G standard adopted by the International Telecommunications Union (or ITU)" they're not trying to pull the wool over anyone's eyes.

What is the ITU's web-site address?
