Sharon:

Thank you for your generous words. We have a great thread because we all contribute.

There are many different ways to buy stocks. I agree with you 100% that a very good method is to buy strong stocks in strong sectors. This is very reliable and simple if there are clear trends.

In the Breakout thread, we picks stocks for short term for fun and learn. I look at the records of our picks, that also point to the sectors. If I guess right which sectors will be strong the next few days, my picks will do quite well.

MP, You certainly underscore my sentiments, thank goodness for Julius and others who help on this thread. Converse to my stock picking ability, my portfolio has flourished over the past 20 months based largely on Select funds and other mutual funds.

I agree with Money Penny's assessment wholeheartedly. The big 4th of July display in our little town's park reminds me that I no longer have the time or inclination to invest in rockets that explode after a colorful rise.
Sector funds are not inanimate entities. There is a human stock picker behind each one. Preferably he will guide the fireworks display for me.
Some great companies still exist out there for the individual stock buyer who wants to jump on bad news like CISCO two weeks ago - Barron's negative article and run with it when everyone's jumping out, jump on.
I traded funds mercilessly until even FIDO began sending me warning letters thrown instantly into the waste basket. But the sector funds are there just for shooting as far as I'm concerned, and I like it that way using Julius's targets. Summer Tech's been hot for 3 weeks for sure.
