William, i actually think that the trade deficit will continue to soar initially, even as the dollar falls. that is what happened in the second half of the '80's, and i think a repeat performance is highly likely.
funny enough, no-one seems to worry about the trade/current account deficit, as it is assumed that foreigners will be sending 1,5 billion dollars per day to finance it as a matter of course.

i am worried about it, and so is the BIS. this will come home to roost, i have no doubt.
