They already did. It's called ROYALTIES!!!

The royalties will have to be proportionate. Do you feel that the value of licensing the "programmable register patent" should be close to the same value as licensing DRDRAM? There is probably 3 or 4 orders of magnitude more Rambus IP associated with DRDRAM than with SDRAM.

I would have no problem if the SDRAM agreement with Toshiba was .01% That would be very proportionate to the value of the product.

Does the windshield wiper designer get 1% of the sales of a car?
