He was a very cool guy, whether or not he was the Son of God and the Messiah and all that. When I read the New Testament, especially the first few books in a two volume set I got from Quality Paperback Books, in one sense it's hard to follow him, in one sense it makes perfect sense. We have discussed before our mutual admiration for Marcus Aurelius. There was a time, long ago, where our culture first learned to value the life of the individual, and the conscience of the individual, and the rights of the individual. It's still percolating.

I mean, we can agree that Christ would not have approved of slavery, nor would he have approved of the concentration camps, and so forth.
