well, that article specifically addressed "network processors" (generically, a communications platform that performs very high-speed processing for various higher-layer digital functions), but to answer your question simply: no, not in light of the current optical frenzy and not when everyone and their mother is pushing for an end-to-end OC-192 solution (i.e., carriers demanding that arms merchants take the next step up the SONET hierarchy).
