Give me a break. First, it only works on an HSCSD network. Also from the Nokia website:

The availability of HSCSD services depends on the capabilities of the GSM network.


Next, even if you were on an HSCD network, the absolute best data rate would be 36K and most of that would be used for overhead. You'd never be able to surf the web using Netscape or IE in any practical sense. Perhaps I should have said "a practical" GSM modem card.

It does looks pretty though.

BTW, AWE is converting these new network acquisitions to TDMA because that's the kind of network they have. I can't believe that people are still using the "Look! They're switching from CDMA to TDMA!" argument to claim technological superiority. What a joke. AWE bought those assets because they didn't even have a presence in those markets.

I was just talking to a friend that was switched over from CDMA because of Amertitech's takeover by SBC. I could hardly understand him. I have a feeling that the churn on the Ameritech network will be much higher than industry standards.
