HJ: I have not been to Japan for a few months and I am losing touch with conditions there. But I can tell you that Japan is going through a redefinition driven by younger people that act les and less Japanese in some respects, and typiclly Japanese in others. Less Japanese in their attitudes to financial security and very Japanese in liking little electronic gadgets and being ultra-social in behavior -- as in being linked to everybody you know to pass messages all the time ala docomo.

HJ: I forgot to mention why I bought more SWC. I was speaking yesterday with the President of a fuel Cell company -- not at liberty to say who -- and was reminded of the importance of the white metals. Did you see platinum up 16 bucks today? And Palladium? SWC is tripling their output, but it is a drop in the bucket compared to Southern Africa. I think white metal prices can double and SWC's production can at least double. They trade at 25 times earnings. I figure they are good for a 400-500 percent return over the next couple of years. Good enough for me :)
