Did you mean to characterize AMD as a chimp? That would imply a non-Intel compatible approach. I've always thought of them as Intel's monkey, which is a lesser category than chimp, and would be interested in the reasoning behind your upgrade.

AMD

Sorry for responding late (damn day job got in the way). I wanted to comment on the INTC mavens position:
They warn that AMD is entirely dependent on the PC microprocessor retail market.

Actually AMD has been a major force in flash memory for some time now. In fact flash kept their boat afloat. My recollection (quite possibly very wrong) is that for a while AMD sold more flash than Intel.

The statement about AMD lacking capacity to make serious inroads into Intel's market is a fact.
