Your misunderstanding of the purpose of the 2nd amendment is well documented.

I am convinced that the country could be made a lot safer and the hunters and target shooters could still practice their sport.

Hunters and target shooters are not the reason for 2nd amendment. I do not have a weapon for "sport" as you say.
