Chris, why should anyone intervene? That baffles me. It has always baffled me why anyone should feel that they have the right to intervene in an argument. Isn't really denigrating to the arguers to say "now, now, I know better than you and I want you to stop"? Edwarda was a very intelligent woman, capable of giving at least as good as she got. She was a formidable opponent in an intellectual exchange who gave no quarter, at least when she was feeling her best. I will honor her memory by thinking of her that way.
