Rudedog,
Hi!!
And, the stock is down? :o)

Somebody isn't listening very closely...Told us at the CC and recently that "weekly server sales are growing"...

Did you catch this today?:
The announcement is part of Dell and Red Hat Inc.'s One Source Alliance, a global initiative intended to speed commercial acceptance and respond to the growing demand for Linux-based systems for the Internet infrastructure. The addition of Linux as a strategic, global operating system is expected to help Dell to capture an increased percentage of spending associated with building the infrastructure for the new Internet economy, which is expected to reach $370 billion annually by 2003

Dell is betting that Linux will become a threat to the Unix operating system used by competitors such as Compaq and Sun Microsystems Inc. on more powerful machines. Unlike its rivals, Dell doesn't have its own version of Unix. The agreement with Dell ultimately will lure more Unix customers to Red Hat's version of Linux, Red Hat Chief Executive Matthew Szulik said.

``We see significant market opportunity for Linux,'' Dell Senior Vice President Michael Lambert said.

Best, Kemble

RD: Inacom started in business 6 months before I did. A fresh graduate from MS in economics. With the help of his father built up on a tough competetion. Whatever happens to the company father and son know how to come out ahead. Chapter 11 must be another personal oppurtunity. I would not put much thought on Inacom status on Dell's or Compaq's focus. Even at a $1B business, I consider them as small thinkers. I think CPQ paid too much for what they got. Reminds me of PERTEC's deals with MITS/ALTAIR dealers. This is a vulturing business tactics, and sure fire to failure.
