You have no IDEA what it's like to have your mother correct your papers, draft after draft, with a red pencil. Or maybe you do- if you do you really do have my sympathy. I got to the point where I did my papers furtively, or at school, so she couldn't see them. NO English teacher ever corrected like my mother. I am really amazed none of her students ever killed her. She still corrects the newspaper and every book she reads- I can't read a book after she's read it since she writes corrections in all the margins.
