Yes, how can they ignore $2.3 Billion? I guess because it's investment income, it doesn't matter? That seems like, um, serious money to me.

In the second to last paragraph of the PR, Intel said that they reaffirmed guidance from their 1st quarter 10Q. If anyone is interested, here is the link:

In recent quarters, Intel has sold just enough stock to bring their earnings 1 or 2 cents above the estimates. So some are taking this as an indicator that the current quarter's earnings would be down by about $2 Billion without the sale of stock.

It may be very different this time, but this is probably the cause for street's reaction.
